On Kedmi's hateful rage toward the
Caucasus and the Turks
I happened to hear Yakov Kedmi speak again about the
situation in the Caucasus, this time after the Karabakh war, in an interview
with a certain Farhad Ibragimov, an employee of a Russian news agency. I think
the Azerbaijani was deliberately tasked with interviewing this well-known hater
of all things Turkic, which he did with pleasure, as was evident from the
expression on his face. (https://youtu.be/7UcENqyjexs) The young fool
apparently didn't care what nasty things Kedmi spewed about his people—he just wanted
to be seen on the idiot box. I'd like to remind Farhad how Kedmi, spitting and
squealing, denigrated the peoples of the Caucasus on the TV show hosted by
Mudozvon (1), calling them tribes, gangs under national flags, incapable of and
having no right to their own state. Here's Kedmi's verbatim opinion:
"The problem of the North Caucasus, the problem of
Karabakh, the problem of the Turkish sultan unleashed and unmuzzled—all these
problems can only be solved in one place. That place is called Moscow, the
Kremlin."
"In the post-Soviet space, these are tribes, gangs under
national flags. And unless there's a force that takes responsibility for
overseeing things from above." "They're incapable unless someone from
above restrains them." "Russia has always been the source of peace in
the Caucasus; when it maintained this, there was peace. When it ceased to
fulfill its historical responsibility in this region, it descended into war,
into death." These regions cannot exist physically, politically,
economically, or demographically as separate national enclaves called a state
without someone imposing order there. They simply cannot, and that's it!"

In response to Ibragimov's question about what Kedmi could
say following the 44-day Karabakh War, the latter, instead of answering the
question, immediately began by saying that the Turkic countries do not want to
join Turkey, referring to the Union of Turkic States, which Kedmi sees as
something terrible and hostile. I wonder where he got the idea that Turkey is
forcing all six Turkic states to join a single state? He's talking about a
union, not a single state. Kedmi is deliberately distorting the true state of
affairs in order to frighten Russians, and indeed the entire world. In that
case, he should also disapprove of the European Union. But if we recall his
views on the Caucasian peoples, it becomes clear why Kedmi harbors such hatred
for the newly created Turkic Union, in which, like the EU, all member states
have equal rights. True, not all members of the Union are at the same level of
economic development, but then again, the same is true in the EU. How can
Germany be compared to Macedonia? Yes, Erdogan's Turkey—or, in Kedmi's words,
"unleashed and unmuzzled by the Turkish Sultan"—is today strong both
economically and militarily, and this proved to be Turkey's decisive
contribution to the victory of the brotherly people of Azerbaijan over the
Armenian invaders. I have no doubt that Kedmi would have jumped for joy had
Armenia won, but... Then, in his answer, Yasha unexpectedly switches to a
religious theme, emphasizing that Azerbaijanis are Shiites, who, in his
opinion, are more dangerous to Russia. However, Kedmi is once again mistaking
wishful thinking for reality. Firstly, Azerbaijanis in the state of Azerbaijan
are biconfessional, and a large number consider themselves Shiites, so what?
There are plenty of examples in the world of the same people being
biconfessional: for example, in Japan, Buddhism and Shintoism are practiced,
and some English people are Catholics, while others are Protestants. Secondly,
religion in Azerbaijan is not as strong as, for example, in Israel, and is
separate from the state, unlike in Israel (2) or its political opponent, Shiite
Iran. And thirdly, all other peoples of the Turkic countries profess Sunni
Islam, which, one would assume, is more acceptable to Yasha than Shiism.
Kedmi's attempt to sow discord here is clearly unsuccessful.
It must be said that Kedmi also harbors hatred for other
peoples who broke free from the Russian Empire. Kedmi is particularly furious
with regard to Ukraine, whose demise he predicted back in 2017. (1)
