October 7
- Cause and Effect (supplemented)
On October 7, 2023, Israel suffered a terrorist attack by
Palestinians from Gaza. Taking advantage of what must be called the
carelessness of Israeli border guards during the holidays, they killed 1,200
people and took 242 hostages into Gaza. Thus, the war began once again, lasting
over five months and, despite Israel's incomparable military superiority,
continuing to this day, claiming the lives of both Palestinians and Israelis.
The US and the EU, while condemning the actions of
Palestinian terrorists and believing Israel has the right to punish
Palestinians, simultaneously urge Israel to be more cautious when dropping
multi-ton bombs on Gaza, which has the highest population density in the world.
Frankly, it's amazing how, from above, a pilot dropping a bomb can distinguish
a terrorist from an ordinary citizen. After all, the Palestinians don't have a
regular army with tanks, guns, and planes. In fact, judging by the scale of the
destroyed buildings, they were all inhabited by terrorists, and it must be
said, this is closer to the truth. It's hard to imagine that their residents
wouldn't wish death on the Israelis, given the conditions of their
disenfranchised existence under apartheid and the number of people killed by
rockets, bombs, and shells. I wouldn't be wrong if I said that every
Palestinian is a potential terrorist, including women.
It doesn't take much insight to fail to understand why, from
the very first day of Israel's establishment, there has been a war between Jews
and Arabs in Palestine, and why martial law has been declared in Israel, which
hasn't been lifted to this day. It's because of the demographic situation that
arose immediately with the establishment of a state for the Jews. Israel cannot
be a Jewish state if the majority of its citizens are Arabs. This is why exiled
Palestinians emerged, becoming refugees scattered across neighbouring Arab
countries. The remaining Arab population of the former Palestine received
Israeli citizenship, while the majority of Palestinians were isolated in the
autonomous region, whose territory, like shagreen leather, is shrinking year
after year.
As a result of Israel's expansionist policies, the territory
of the Palestinian Authority differs sharply from the territory of the
Palestinian state envisaged by the infamous UN resolution to establish two
states for two peoples – Jewish and Arab – on the site of Palestine. The
Israeli government ignored the UN resolution and solved the problem by erecting
a concrete wall around the occupied territory, which resembles a vast, roofless
prison. The population of the autonomous region is deprived of the civil rights
inherent to state citizens and is used as a source of cheap labor. The
isolation of Palestinians in a concrete prison strongly resembles the actions
of a state pursuing apartheid. It would be a different matter if the
construction of this wall reflected a mutual agreement on the state border
between Jews and Palestinians. Unfortunately, such an agreement does not exist,
and the wall's placement merely consolidates the annexed territories for
Israel, emphasizing its aggressive intentions toward the Arabs. Most
importantly, the wall becomes yet another, additional barrier to peace.
Currently, due to the war, Israel is experiencing serious
problems in construction, which has been completely halted, and in declining
agricultural production, the prices of which have increased by 50%. Israeli
businessmen, accustomed to dealing with Palestinians from the Palestinian
Authority, are unwilling to pay significantly higher wages to workers brought
in from abroad. Continuing the war could lead to a catastrophic economic
situation.
As I wrote previously (1), the blame for the ongoing war in
the former Palestine lies entirely with the UN, which should have foreseen the
current standoff and deployed troops to the designated dividing line of
Palestine, as outlined on the map.
The Palestinian terrorist attack on October 7, which
triggered the military action, also prompted the international community to
address the cause of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Many Western
politicians, including Biden, suddenly remembered the idea of a Palestinian state and began
to speak about its creation as the only way to end this half-century-long
conflict. This circumstance leads to a rather unpleasant conclusion: if not for
the Hamas terrorists, no one would have even mentioned the forgotten
Palestinian state, even though everyone had long known how to stop the
bloodshed between Jews and Arabs, but remained silent so as not to irritate...
By the way, a few words about terrorists. The fact is that
guerrillas also engage in terrorism; moreover, any war cannot do without mass
terror, resulting in the death of civilians. The difference between terrorists
and guerrillas is the same as between spies and intelligence agents. (2, 3)
For greater
clarity, a brief historical overview.
Palestine
never existed as an Arab state. This territory was part of the Arab Caliphate,
which was destroyed by the Turks. After the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Britain
and France divided all Arab lands among themselves, fragmenting them into
separate Arab states. In 1948, the territory of Palestine, inhabited by Arabs,
was further divided into two states: Palestinian and Jewish. However, the Jews,
armed with weapons, prevented the Arabs from establishing a state by occupying
all of Palestine. Since the Arab population of Palestine far outnumbered the
Jews, most of the Arabs were forced into autonomous regions, while some fled to
neighbouring Arab countries. This is how the newly established Jewish state of
Israel ended up with more Jews than Arabs. Since 1948, Palestinian Arabs have
been trying to achieve their own state, as decided by the UN, but Israel has
prevented this decision from being implemented and has been at war with the
Palestinian Arabs ever since. To end the war, the Jews have two options: either
allow the Palestinians to establish a state within the territory, in accordance
with the UN resolution, or kill all the Arabs within the autonomous region.
